Samos is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece.

There are many archaeological monuments and sites from several historical periods all over the island. The very popular town of Pythagorion is basically built on top of the ancient city so if you happen to stay there during your visit you may be pleasantly surprised to enjoy your morning coffee next to a 2000 year old pillar or wall. According to the Greek mythology, Samos was the island of the ancient Greek goddess Hera. This is why locals constructed a large sanctuary, called the Heraion, in her honor. Close to Heraion, there’s the Tunnel of Eupalinus, which was the waterway of the Ancient town of Pythagorion and among the greatest technological achievements of its time.
If you love adventure and are into exploration, there are even more places to discover in Samos. Waterfalls, mountain trails with beautiful scenery, and monasteries built in caves and on the top of cliffs. In one of these caves you’ll find a mysterious cave church, where the holy icon of the Virgin Mary was allegedly found.
